Michael Owen could be set to revive his England career with a shock move to Manchester United. Owen is a free agent after his release by Newcastle, and reports claim he’ll earn a move to Old Trafford if he passes a medical.

Chelsea have confirmed they’ve rejected an offer from Manchester City for England captain John Terry. The Blues say they rejected a similar approach from City late last year. Meanwhile Chelsea have beefed up their goalkeeping department. They’ve brought in Middlesbrough keeper Ross Turnbull on a four-year contract, while Hilario has signed a new two-year deal.

Jim Gannon has made the worst possible start to his reign as Motherwell boss. His new team lost 1-0 at home to Llanelli in the first leg of their Europa League qualifying tie. Linfield were hammered 4-0 at Randers, while the New Saints are still in contention after a narrow 2-1 defeat at Fram.

Celtic boss Tony Mowbray’s confirmed the departure of midfielder Paul Hartley and striker Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink. Both players are out of contract.
