Podcast Description: Foster out of England clash - Adams on Wilshere hype EXCLUSIVE - Ferguson slams SFA - Bellamy absence clarified
Manchester United keeper Ben Foster’s pulled out of tomorrow’s friendly between England and Holland in Amsterdam. He picked up a knock during Sunday’s Community Shield – he’s been replaced by Manchester City’s Joe Hart. Former England defender Tony Adams has questioned the timing of tomorrow’s match. It comes just three days before the Premier League’s big kick-off, and Adams thinks that’ll be a major distraction. Adams says there’s too much hype surrounding Gunners starlet Jack Wilshere. The 17-year-old’s already being tipped for a place in England’s potential World Cup finals squad – Adams says everyone needs to calm down. Barry Ferguson has slammed the Scottish Football Association for ending his international career. Ferguson and his former Rangers teammate Allan McGregor were both given life bans for heavy drinking while on international duty and making V-signs on the bench during the match against Iceland. Ferguson has described his treatment as a joke, and is angry he found out about his life ban by fax rather than a face-to-face meeting. Wales skipper Craig Bellamy is out of tomorrow’s friendly in Montenegro. The Manchester City striker has a knee injury, but City failed to inform Wales of the problem over the weekend. Northern Ireland boss Nigel Worthington says tomorrow’s friendly with Israel at Windsor Park is perfect preparation for World Cup qualifiers against Poland and Slovakia. Worthington says he has a fully fit squad of 21 players to choose from.
