Following an afternoon spent singing silly songs with my baby daughter, I thought I should post some of the lyrics here.  It is curious that we spend hours teaching our kids to talk properly and sensibly, yet encourage them to repeat rhymes that are, at best, inane and, at worst, completely non-sensical!!

I will start with my favourite - The Three Monkeys:

Not last night but the night before

Three young monkeys came to my door

One with a trumpet, one with a drum

And one with a pancake stuck to his bum

The cheeky smile on my daughter's face when I sing this song, suggests that she already has an idea that the word 'bum' is amusing!!
