Newcastle are also in relegation danger ahead of the season finale. They’ll be without defender Sebastien Bassong for Sunday’s trip to Aston Villa after the FA refused to rescind his red card against Fulham, but Michael Owen is winning his race to be fit. A defeat for Newcastle would confirm their relegation.

England boss Fabio Capello could have a goalkeeping crisis to deal with ahead of next month’s World Cup qualifiers. Number one David James needs shoulder surgery and will miss the games against Kazakhstan and Andorra, and potential replacement Ben Foster’s out with a damaged thumb.
